Your voice and writing

Dictation and AI rewriting run on your Mac using downloaded models. Soona does not send your recordings, transcripts, vocabulary, selected text, or rewrite instructions to its account service, Google, or Clerk for processing. Your content is not used by Soona to train a shared model.

Saved history stays on each Mac and is encrypted with a key held in the macOS Keychain. The default retention is 24 hours for saved audio and 30 days for transcripts. You can change retention, turn history off, export entries, and delete local history. Exports are separate files and are not protected by Soona's history encryption. Model-download hosts receive the connection information needed to deliver model files.

Google sign-in and account information

Soona uses Google sign-in through Clerk. We request basic identity permissions: OpenID, email address, and profile. Google and Clerk may process your Google identifier, verified email, name, profile image, IP address, browser/device information, and authentication activity to provide and protect sign-in. Soona does not request access to Gmail messages, Google Drive files, calendars, or contacts.

The Soona account service stores your Clerk user identifier and verified email, account dates, registered device identifiers and public keys, device names and activity dates, hashed session credentials, and access status. We use this information to authenticate you, enforce the two-active-Mac limit, issue offline access, prevent abuse, and provide support. Soona is free for now; sign-in does not start a trial or a paid subscription.

Services that process account and website information

Clerk provides authentication, Railway hosts the account service and its database, and Vercel hosts this website and app downloads and securely routes requests to the account service. These providers process information needed to deliver, secure, and operate their services, including connection metadata and operational logs. Provider processing may take place outside your country. Google handles your Google account under Google's privacy policy.

The marketing site uses fixed demonstration text, self-hosted fonts, and no Soona advertising or analytics scripts. It does not request microphone access. Account pages use necessary authentication/session cookies and security controls; Google and Clerk use their own authentication infrastructure. We do not sell your information or use Google account information for advertising.

Retention, deletion, and support

Local content follows your app retention settings. Account and device records remain while needed to operate your account. Temporary authentication requests and expired sessions are cleaned up automatically. Security records may need to be retained to prevent abuse. Records from earlier trial testing may remain in existing accounts. Backups can retain older records until their normal replacement or expiry. We may retain information required by law or needed to resolve disputes.

Email the contact above to request access, correction, or deletion of account information, or to raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Deleting local history does not delete your account, and revoking Google access does not automatically delete Soona account records. Support correspondence is used to respond to your request; only include content you intend to share.

Payments and changes

Soona is free for now, with no trial countdown. Paid checkout is disabled and no card information is required. Before enabling payments or materially changing how we handle personal information, we will update this notice and provide any notice or choice required by applicable law.
